Baseera Khan

Baseera Khan lives and works in Queens, New York. Khan’s practice uses the lens of their own body to investigate and disrupt social and capitalist systems. Much of this inquiry revolves around the experience of both power and surveillance in public space. Khan translates these observations into formal and material artworks that intersect the constructed spiritual self, gender, and desire. Khan's High Line Art Commission, Painful Arc II (Shoulder-High), 2023, is currently on view at the High Line Park until May 2024. Recent solo exhibitions include: Statements with Simone Subal Gallery, Art Basel, Switzerland (2023); Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington D.C (2023); High Line, New York, NY (2023); Georgetown University, Washington D.C.
